SSR intends to organise major national and international seminars, both independently and in collaboration with other institutions, to keep pace with academic contributions to the larger society. It has already started a lecture series called Dialogue that takes place in collaboration with VKRV Rao Hostel, University of Delhi (whose residents are students from Delhi School of Economics), which has proved to be an important avenue for serious interdisciplinary discussions, raising significant social issues. Through such initiatives, SSR aims to generate a body of knowledge rooted primarily in South Asian conditions, and aims to introduce South Asian perspectives at an international level, in order to critique and provide alternatives to the problems of our time, both local and global. Above all, the objective is to make SSR a centre of ideas, a source of knowledge rooted in specific South Asian contexts, and a springboard of creative theory.
